We are so excited that you'all picked up the Charit Creek challenge.  Our Scout Troop 60's sixteen years of visiting between Christmas and New Years is one of my fondest experiences, as it has been for hundreds of boys and dads.  I hope the present troop leaders (I finally had to give up the backpacking) are able to carry on the tradition.  My family will continue to be one of your greatest advertisers.

Great Hiking and Lodging Experience!

My husband and I just spent a couple days hiking in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and had the pleasure of staying at Charit Creek Lodge overnight. It was a delight, from the sincere hospitality of the on-site manager Gregg to the wonderful food prepared for our enjoyment. The whole lodge is completely "off the grid" with no electricity. However, there are separate buildings with running water including flushable toilets and hot showers. Each cabin is equipped with a wood burning stove, which successfully kept our cabin toasty warm with outside temperatures in the 30s . Each night's stay comes with dinner and breakfast included. Additionally, you can pay extra for a hot lunch at the lodge or a sack lunch to take on the trail. We decided to take advantage of the latter on the day of our departure and hiked to the Angel Falls overlook to enjoy our picnic with spectacular views. This place is a real gem and we plan to return soon!

Hiking trip 2014

After hiking Mt. LeConte for years, we wanted to give Charit Creek a try. Just did. Wow! Four guys logging some 20 miles over 2 days and calling Charit Creek home. It exceeded anything we hoped for. While our wives thought we were surviving in the wild on bark and berries (and trail-mix), we discovered an outstanding chef who delighted at "Wow-ing" weary hikers. The food was incredible and Greg's hospitality and knowledge of the area was exceptional. He even insisted on packing us a day-lunch which was an added gift. The question isn't "if" we will be back, but "when." It is obvious that Greg loves his job and his guests. It shows in the little things.

12th Birthday Trip

My son ask to spend his birthday at the lodge with a few buddies and we could not have ask for a better experience! Gregg was so wonderful to work with from start to finish. We hiked in and the boys went to the Twin Arches then came back to the swimming hole where they swam, fished, and played the evening away. Gregg then prepared an unbelievable meal for 21 (I think) by himself! Pan fried chicken, pork chops, squash casserole, asparagus casserole, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, baked mac and cheese, rolls, cornbread, fried apples, and the best from scratch chocolate cake with butter cream icing for my Son!! Then we enjoyed a history tour around the property and got to experience the stunning view of the stars. Perfect.
